TBILISI. June 2 (Interfax) – The Georgian parliament adopted a law on Thursday to allow visa-free trips by EU, U.S., Japanese and Canadian citizens for a period of up to 90 days.
The parliamentary majority deputies who initiated the law said it would promote tourism.
President Mikheil Saakashvili told residents of the Akhalkalaki district several weeks ago that he would soon unilaterally annul visa formalities with Russia.
Russian citizens can currently receive a Georgian visa at Tbilisi Airport for $20. Georgian citizens need an invitation from Russia and can receive a visa at the Russian Embassy.
