MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax) - Russia has begun negotiations with its neighbours to conclude readmission agreements, which would enable Moscow to sign a relevant agreement with the European Union in the future, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“We have started negotiations with all countries neighboring Russia to conclude readmission agreements. As soon as they are concluded, we will be quite prepared to conclude a readmission agreement with the EU, which I hope will be tied to an agreement abolishing visas for mutual travel of Russian and EU citizens,” Lavrov said at a press conference in Rome on Wednesday, whose transcript is available at the Russian Foreign Ministry website.
